The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor working on a major data centre scheme in Dunstable.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QS to join a high-profile project and play a key role in the commercial management and delivery of the scheme.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of your package(s), working closely with the project team, subcontractors and client to ensure the project is delivered successfully and profitably.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the commercial aspects of the project from pre-construction through to completion
Managing subcontractor procurement, packages and accounts
Preparing and reviewing subcontract orders and valuations
Cost reporting, forecasting and financial control
Managing variations, compensation events and change control
Preparing monthly applications and payment assessments
Reviewing and agreeing final accounts
Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
Working closely with the Project Manager and wider site team
Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting to senior management
Building and maintaining strong relationships with the client and supply chain
About You
We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong main contracting background. Experience working on data centres, M&E-intensive projects, industrial, commercial or other complex schemes would be highly advantageous.
You should have:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor
Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
Experience managing subcontract packages and accounts
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
Experience with NEC and/or JCT contracts would be beneficial
Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification preferred, although strong experience will be considered
