How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.

Location: Westminster, Central London
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: Up to £145 per day (PAYE)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

SANZA Teaching Agency is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading primary school in the City of Westminster to recruit an exceptional Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a September start.

This role would suit an experienced HLTA, an aspiring teacher or an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step in their career within one of Westminster's most respected primary schools.

Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs is essential.

About the Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school while working closely with class teachers and senior leaders to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

You will deliver pre-planned lessons when required, provide targeted interventions and work closely with pupils who require additional support, particularly those with SEND and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering high-quality lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
Supporting teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 as required.
Delivering small group and one-to-one interventions.
Supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs both inside and outside the classroom.
Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to implement individual support plans.
Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Helping to create an inclusive learning environment where every child can succeed.About You

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting children and committed to helping every pupil achieve their very best.

You will have:

Experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or experienced Teaching Assistant within a UK primary school.
Significant experience supporting children with SEND and SEMH needs.
Confidence delivering lessons and managing whole classes.
Strong behaviour management skills.
A nurturing, patient and resilient approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A proactive attitude and willingness to contribute to the wider school community.
A genuine passion for inclusive education.This role would be particularly suited to someone considering teacher training in the future, as the school has an outstanding reputation for developing education professionals.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

HLTA status or substantial experience working at HLTA level.
Experience within a UK primary school.
Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH.
Excellent classroom management skills.
