As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of a portfolio of capital works projects, ensuring effective cost control, accurate forecasting, contract administration, and risk management. Working closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders, you will play a key role in driving value and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities
Manage the commercial and cost control aspects of water mains renewal projects across the Thames Water framework.
Assist with project budgeting, cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Provide commercial and contractual support to operational and project delivery teams.
Administer NEC contracts and support the management of contractual obligations and risks.
Prepare valuations, applications for payment, compensation events, and variations.
Monitor project performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
Assist in the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
Support procurement activities and subcontractor management.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
Produce accurate monthly commercial reports and project forecasts.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practice across project delivery teams.
Skills & Experience
Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction, civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
Experience managing project costs, reporting, and forecasting.
Good understanding of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to risk management.
Full UK driving licence.
Experience working on water, utilities, pipeline, or civil engineering projects.
Previous exposure to Thames Water or other regulated utility frameworks.
Working towards or holding membership with RICS, ICES, or another relevant professional body.
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
Professional accreditation or working towards chartered status is advantageous.
