The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
The Role
Wolviston Management Services are supporting our client in the appointment of an experienced CNC Machinist to join their established heavy engineering machine shop operation in Teesside.
This is a technically demanding position involving the machining of large, high-integrity components from billets, castings, forgings and fabrications. The role requires the ability to set, programme and operate both horizontal and vertical turning equipment within a quality-driven manufacturing environment. You will be working on one-off and low-volume components, taking responsibility for set-up, programming, machining and self-inspection. The position operates on a rotating mix of day and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Set, programme and operate ALPHA Colchester XT 1550 lathe (Fanuc / Manual Guide i control)
Operate Shibaura TUE-150S Vertical Boring and Turning Mill (2000mm swing, C-axis, driven tools)
Machine components from castings, forgings, billets and fabrications
Interpret detailed engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances
Select appropriate tooling, speeds and feeds for varying material grades
Carry out manual inspection of dimensions and surface finish
Maintain high standards of component care and quality compliance
Adhere to site health, safety and environmental procedures at all times
Work collaboratively with supervisors, quality personnel and production teams About You:
Time-served machinist with a recognised apprenticeship
Proven experience operating CNC lathes and/or vertical boring machines
Confident setting and machining one-off or bespoke components
Strong understanding of Fanuc CNC controls
Experienced in manual measurement techniques and surface finish inspection
Comfortable working within a heavy engineering or manufacturing environment
Quality-focused, methodical and professional in approach
Willing to work a rotating mix of day and night shifts Essential Requirements:
Apprenticeship trained (Machine Shop or Mechanical Engineering)
Experience with large component machining
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
