How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

Business Development Specialist
Bristol | Hybrid Working
About Ecosurety Ecosurety exists to rid the world of unnecessary packaging.

We believe in a future where every brand has the data and market insights to make smart, sustainable packaging decisions. To make that vision a reality, we enable the world's leading brands to make smart and sustainable packaging decisions through our intelligence platform and deep regulatory expertise.

We're at an exciting stage of growth, expanding our capabilities, investing in technology and developing new ways to support customers through an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.

With around 100 colleagues and ambitious plans for the future, we're building a business where talented people can do meaningful work, challenge convention and create real-world impact.

The Opportunity Help more businesses navigate one of the biggest regulatory changes in packaging.
Packaging legislation is changing rapidly.

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), Plastic Packaging Tax, Recyclability Assessment Methodology (RAM), Deposit Return Schemes and future regulations such as PPWR are creating new challenges for businesses across the UK.

At Ecosurety, we help organisations understand these changes, remain compliant and make smarter, more sustainable packaging decisions.

To support our continued growth, we're looking for a Business Development Specialist to help us connect with more organisations that can benefit from our expertise.

This role sits at the very front of the customer journey. You'll identify potential clients, start meaningful conversations, uncover challenges and create high-quality opportunities for our commercial teams.

If you enjoy speaking with people, understanding how businesses operate and opening doors to new opportunities, this role offers the chance to develop your commercial career whilst contributing to work that makes a genuine environmental impact.
Why Join Now?
The packaging sector is undergoing significant transformation, creating growing demand for expert guidance and support.

As Ecosurety continues to expand its services and technology offering, we're investing heavily in how we engage with prospective clients and build long-term partnerships.

You'll join at a point where there is real opportunity to make an impact, develop your skills and help shape how a purpose-led organisation grows.

This isn't a role where you'll simply work through a list of leads. You'll become an important voice in how we understand our market, identify opportunities and support future growth.
What You'll Be Doing Start Conversations That Matter
You'll identify and engage prospective clients through a range of channels including phone, email, LinkedIn, networking and industry events.
You'll be responsible for opening conversations with businesses that may benefit from Ecosurety's services and building relationships with key decision-makers.
Understand Customer Challenges
The best commercial conversations start with curiosity.
You'll conduct discovery conversations to understand how organisations currently manage packaging compliance, the challenges they're facing and where Ecosurety may be able to help.
Create High-Quality Opportunities You'll assess opportunities against agreed qualification criteria and ensure our Client Services team receives clear, detailed handovers that set them up for success. Become a Trusted Voice You'll develop your knowledge of packaging compliance, regulatory developments and Ecosurety's services, allowing you to speak confidently about the challenges facing prospective customers and the solutions we provide.
Work Collaboratively You'll work closely with colleagues across Client Services, Marketing, Policy & Advisory, Product and Technology, sharing market insight and helping us continuously improve how we engage with customers.
You'll Probably Be Successful If You...

Have at least two years' experience in a sales, business development, lead generation or customer-facing commercial role.
Enjoy speaking with people and building relationships.
Are naturally curious and enjoy understanding how businesses operate.
Ask thoughtful questions and listen carefully.
Can identify commercial opportunities whilst maintaining a customer-focused approach.
Are organised and able to manage multiple conversations and priorities.
Enjoy learning new industries, products and markets.
Take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments.
Are motivated by working towards goals and contributing to business growth.
We'd Love To See Evidence Of How You've...

Generated new business opportunities.
Built relationships with prospective customers.
Conducted effective discovery or qualification conversations.
Managed a sales pipeline or lead generation activity.
Used insight and research to identify commercial opportunities.
Worked collaboratively with colleagues to achieve commercial outcomes.
 Desirable Experience

Business Development Representative (BDR) or Sales Development Representative (SDR) experience.
B2B sales environments.
Compliance, regulatory or professional services sectors.
Sustainability-related industries.
CRM platforms and sales enablement tools.
Packaging, environmental or producer responsibility markets.

Don't worry if you don't have experience in all of the above. We're interested in potential as much as experience.
Why You'll Succeed Here You'll be joining a collaborative, values-driven organisation where expertise is trusted, ideas are welcomed and meaningful work is part of everyday life.

You'll have the opportunity to build your commercial skills whilst developing deep expertise in a sector that is becoming increasingly important to businesses across the UK.

Most importantly, you'll be helping organisations make better decisions that contribute to a more sustainable future.
Package & Benefits
Salary: £36,000 - £39,000, dependent on experience

In addition to a competitive salary, you'll benefit from:

Annual company bonus scheme
7% employer pension contribution
5x salary life insurance
Critical illness cover
Employee health cash plan
Paid sick leave
28 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
Opportunity to buy additional holiday or take unpaid leave
Two weeks' workcation per year
Three paid volunteering days each year
£250 home working allowance
Wellbeing support
Access to training and professional development
Flexible working arrangements
Hybrid working, with colleagues expected to spend at least 50% of their time working together in person
Modern Bristol city centre office

Whilst we don't operate a traditional commission structure, we do offer an annual company bonus scheme. This reflects our collaborative culture and ensures everyone shares in the success of the business.

We focus on outcomes rather than hours or location, giving our people the flexibility and support they need to do their best work while making a positive impact.
Equal Opportunities
Ecosurety is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.

We believe diversity strengthens our teams, improves decision-making and helps us better serve our customers and communities. If you're excited about this opportunity but don't meet every requirement, we'd still encourage you to apply.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive a high volume of suitable applications. We therefore encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.
