ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Logistics Coordinator to join a growing consumer products business based in Wigan.
This is a hands-on role managing the day-to-day movement of products internationally, working closely with factories, freight forwarders, carriers and internal teams to ensure shipments are planned, documented and delivered efficiently and on time.
International shipping experience is essential for this position. You will need a good working knowledge of Sea Freight, Air Freight, Bills of Lading, customs clearance and international shipping documentation, as well as the ability to confidently manage issues when things don't go to plan.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating daily domestic and international shipments with carriers, freight forwarders and factories.
- Managing shipments via Sea Freight and Air Freight, ensuring collections and deliveries are arranged efficiently.
- Preparing and checking shipping and customs documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and customs declarations.
- Liaising with factories and overseas teams to coordinate collections, confirm orders and ensure shipments are ready on time.
- Working with freight forwarders and carriers to track shipments and resolve delays, customs issues, damages or other exceptions.
- Supporting the customs clearance process and ensuring documentation is accurate and compliant.
- Providing shipment updates to internal teams including Sales and Customer Service.
- Maintaining accurate shipping data across internal systems, trading files and customer portals.
- Checking freight invoices and supporting the management and optimisation of shipping costs.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies across the logistics operation.
ABOUT THE CANDIDATE
We are looking for someone who already has solid experience within international shipping and logistics. The product background is open — what's most important is your understanding of international freight and your ability to manage a busy shipping operation.
You will ideally have:
- 2+ years' experience in international shipping, freight or logistics coordination.
- Strong understanding of Sea Freight and Air Freight.
- Experience with Bills of Lading and international shipping documentation.
- Knowledge of customs clearance and international shipping processes.
- Experience liaising with freight forwarders, carriers, suppliers and/or factories.
- Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- A natural ability to problem-solve and take ownership when issues arise.
- The ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Good Microsoft Office/Excel skills.
We're open on sector and product background, so whether your experience comes from consumer goods, retail, e-commerce, manufacturing or another fast-moving environment, your international shipping expertise and approach to the role are what really matter.
