How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

About Mount House School

Mount House School is a small, nurturing co‑educational day school in Barnet, North London. With a maximum of sixty students per year group, every child is known, cherished and challenged, enabling them to flourish across academic and co-curricular life.

Set within a beautiful Georgian house opposite Hadley Common, the school offers a unique blend of countryside calm and easy access to London’s cultural opportunities. Education has been the heart of this setting since 1940, and since becoming fully co‑educational in 2022, Mount House has continued to develop as a community that values individuality, creativity and academic ambition.

The school emphasises exceptional pastoral care and a “small is beautiful” ethos, where relationships are strong, support is personalised, and every student is empowered to reach their full potential. Our vision - Be You. Belong. Become. Is underpinned by the values of authenticity, confidence, community, compassion, aspiration and growth.

About the Role

All our teachers foster the sense of school community and support our other areas of school life so that we that provide both our pupils and our staff with opportunities for aspiration, leadership and joy.

Above all, the postholder will embody the ethos of Mount House School: nurturing confidence, building community and ensuring every student reaches their full potential.

Safeguarding is central to this role. Postholder will be expected to follow all school policies, maintain confidentiality, complete required training, and prioritise the wellbeing of every pupil.

  • Build positive relationships with parents and communicate regularly regarding pupil progress
  • Contribute to the school's co-curricular programme, including leading an extracurricular club
  • Support and participate in school trips, events and enrichment activities
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, health and safety
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, attending meetings and contributing to school improvement
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and participate in the appraisal process
  • Undertake administrative duties associated with teaching and pastoral responsibilities
  • Promote and uphold the values, ethos and community life of the school
