How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD)
    Contract Type: Full-time, long-term temporary
    Start Date: 8 September 2026
    Location: Barnet, London, UK
    Salary: £90–£100 per day

    Salary is dependent on experience, qualifications and the requirements of the school.

    About the Role

    Teach Now is recruiting a patient and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD) for an inclusive secondary school in Barnet.

    The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support students across KS3 and KS4 who have autism and associated communication, sensory or social needs. You will work closely with teachers and the SEN team to help students access lessons, manage transitions and become more independent.

    This role requires consistency, emotional awareness and the ability to build trust with young people while maintaining clear expectations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Providing individual and small-group support for students with ASD

    Helping students understand lesson tasks and classroom instructions

    Supporting communication, organisation and emotional regulation

    Using visual timetables, structured routines and agreed support strategies

    Encouraging independence and positive peer relationships

    Supporting students during transitions and unstructured times

    Recording progress and sharing relevant information with the SEN team

    Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff

    Requirements

    Applicants should have:

    Recent experience supporting children or young people with autism

    Experience in a secondary school, specialist setting or youth environment

    A calm, structured and consistent approach

    Strong communication and relationship-building skills

    An understanding of sensory needs and reasonable adjustments

    A commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare

    The right to work in the UK

    A relevant Teaching Assistant, autism-awareness or SEN qualification would be advantageous.
