How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.

Please note that the Combined Authority will consider requests for part-time working and/or job share. We currently have a vacancy for a Policy Coordinator to join our Transport Policy team.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join the Transport Policy Team. Following the adoption of our new West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan, you will work closely with internal teams and our district partners to support the development of a pipeline of transport programmes and schemes that will deliver a modern, reliable transport network, supporting the Mayor’s Weaver Network promise to deliver a well-connected West Yorkshire, including through bringing buses back under control, and delivering Mass Transit.

From working with West Yorkshire district partners, supporting the development of our pipeline of transport projects, developing high-quality business cases and engaging with stakeholders, no two days are the same. As Policy Coordinator, you could be part of the team shaping the future of transport in West Yorkshire, supporting transport decarbonisation and developing policy and schemes that will help more people to access opportunities across our region.

The Role

Reporting into the Programme Development Lead, your key responsibilities will include:

· Contribute to the delivery of policy and strategy through the development of policy proposals, appraising strategy options and co-ordinating projects and initiatives while providing general support to the relevant policy managers on activity related to the team.

· Provide project management, financial and technical support to the directorate. Working with a range of partners – e.g., local authorities, government agencies, private sector organisations and other key stakeholders.

· Undertake quantitative and qualitative data analysis to align future schemes with our transport evidence.

About You

You will have the following key skills, attributes, education, and experience:

· Educated to Degree level or equivalent relevant education/ experience in economic or transport policymaking, planning or project management.

· Strong understanding and practical experience of policy and programme development, including business case development and technical input.

· Experience of working collaboratively in a team.

· Effective communication and negotiation skills.

· Excellent organisational and project management skills.
