The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electronic Design Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team working on a variety of cutting-edge projects based in Colchester.
This role offers a great blend of challenge and variety, giving you the opportunity to work across new and existing electronic designs, including legacy systems, product improvements and obsolescence projects. Your engineering expertise and problem-solving skills will play an important role in developing, improving and maintaining electronic systems throughout their lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronic hardware design, with experience across analogue and digital electronics. Proficiency with electronic design and CAD tools, alongside a strong understanding of electronic components and systems, is essential. Experience working with legacy designs, product improvements or component obsolescence would be advantageous.
Experience & Skills Required
Proven experience in electronic hardware design
Strong analogue and digital electronics knowledge
Experience with schematic capture and PCB design
Good understanding of electronic components, circuits and systems
Experience using electronic design/CAD tools
Experience working with existing or legacy electronic designs
Exposure to component obsolescence, redesign or product improvement projects
Strong fault-finding and debugging skills
Ability to analyse problems and develop practical engineering solutions
Ability to work independently and take ownership of engineering projects
