How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Infrastructure Support Engineer (Projects)

    Colchester

    £30,000 - £40,000 Depending on Experience

    Are you an experienced IT Support Engineer looking to take the next step in your career?

    This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing technology consultancy where you'll move beyond traditional support and gain hands-on experience delivering infrastructure projects, cloud deployments and client solutions.

    As a smaller, ambitious business, you'll be given far greater exposure than you might find in a larger organisation. Working closely with experienced consultants and senior engineers, you'll play an active role across a variety of client projects while continuing to develop your technical skills.

    This role would suit somebody with a solid 2nd Line Support background who is keen to progress into infrastructure, projects and technical consultancy.

    Responsibilities include:

    * Supporting the delivery of infrastructure and networking projects.

    * Assisting with the installation and configuration of switches, routers, firewalls and wireless networks.

    * Supporting cloud migrations and client onboarding projects.

    * Assisting with data migration and implementation projects.

    * Providing 2nd Line technical support to business clients.

    * Troubleshooting Microsoft 365, Windows and network-related issues.

    * Working alongside senior engineers on client deployments.

    * Building strong relationships with customers and providing excellent technical support.

    * Learning new technologies and developing your infrastructure knowledge.

    About You

    We're looking for somebody who enjoys solving technical problems and is keen to continue learning.

    You'll ideally have:

    * Experience within a 2nd Line IT Support position.

    * Good all-round knowledge of IT infrastructure.

    * Exposure to Microsoft 365 and Windows environments.

    * Basic networking knowledge (switches, routers, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP).

    * Excellent troubleshooting skills.

    * Strong communication and customer service skills.

    * A genuine desire to develop your career.

    * Full UK Driving Licence.

    Exposure to Azure, networking, firewalls, virtualisation, CCTV, Ubiquiti or cloud technologies would be advantageous but is not essential.

    Salary

    * £30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.

    * Ongoing training and mentoring from experienced consultants.

    * Exposure to a wide variety of technologies, infrastructure and client environments.

    * Genuine opportunity to develop into a Project Engineer or Technical Consultant.

    * The chance to be part of a growing business where your contribution will make a real difference from day one.
