SRG are working with a leading global manufacturer of paints and coatings. They are now seeking a Chemist with strong digital competency to join their R&D team in Cheshire. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys formulation science but also excels in managing data, digital workflows, and structured product information. Ideal candidates will hold proven, industrial experience of formulating paints & coatings (although other formulation experience will be considered), as well as knowledge and experience of formulation databases and workflows. Recent Chemistry graduates with a year in industry undertaking development/formulation work are encouraged to apply.

Role / Description
- Complete formula management inside digital systems, ensuring accurate data entry, version control, documentation, and approval chain compliance.
- Maintain high‑quality digital records using Electronic Bench Records (EBR) and formulation databases.
- Develop, update and track formulations through the full digital lifecycle, supporting transparency and audit readiness.
- Lead or support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from concept through scale‑up, ensuring formulas and workflows progress through required digital gates.
- Conduct laboratory work including formulation, testing and problem‑solving.
- Collaborate with technical, quality, and operations teams using digital platforms to share data and track progress.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- 1–3 years’ coatings formulation experience.
- Strong understanding of formulation data, documentation, and structured digital systems.
- Available immediately or with very short notice.
- Confident using platforms such as EBRs, formulation databases, LIMS, or equivalent.
- Strong organisational skills with a detail‑driven approach to digital accuracy.
- GC Method Development experience is desirable but not essential.
