How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

You will have the opportunity to deliver electrical maintenance engineering on an iconic central London campus and directly impact the spaces where research, teaching and innovation prosper.

The central London landmark campuses blend historic architecture with cutting-edge facilities, creating a complex and rewarding environment where skilled and dedicated engineers truly thrive.

What’s in it for you

Excellent pension scheme, including retirement, ill-health and death-in-service benefits.
Generous annual leave of 30 days, plus bank holidays and Christmas closure, with a 35-hour working week.
Extensive professional development, technical training and career progression opportunities across Estates & Facilities.
Strong health and wellbeing package, including an Employee Assistance Programme, wellbeing resources and discounted gym and sports facilities.
Enhanced family-friendly benefits, including maternity, adoption, paternity and partner pay, plus a childcare subsidy scheme for eligible staff.
Additional benefits including staff discounts, Cycle to Work, season ticket loans, electric/hybrid vehicle salary sacrifice, three paid volunteering days and access to staff networks and events.
What you’ll be taking ownership of as Electrical Maintenance Engineer:

Carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of electrical systems, installations, and equipment on a central London campus.
Responding promptly to reactive maintenance requests and resolve faults efficiently to minimise disruption to university operations.
Performing inspection, testing, and maintenance of systems to ensure statutory and legal compliance (e.g. emergency lighting, fixed wire testing, PAT testing).
Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults across a wide range of systems, including distribution boards, lighting, small power, and control panels.
Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and university safety procedures.
Maintaining up-to-date records of all statutory testing, maintenance, and repairs using the university’s CAFM (Computer-Aided Facilities Management) app.
Forming part of the dedicated-on call engineering team with scheduled / rota on call weeks.
What you’ll bring to the team as Electrical Maintenance Engineer at King’s College London:

Recognised qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds / AM2/ Electrical Apprenticeship JTL or similar)
18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification
Proven experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally within a large and complex estate
Strong fault-finding skills and ability to work independently under pressure
Good knowledge of health and safety practices in a maintenance environment
Desirable experience includes working within an educational or public sector environment, alongside HV/LV Authorised Person status and a Level 3 qualification in Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations (2391/2394+2395). Knowledge of electrical energy efficiency or sustainability initiatives would be beneficial, as would a mechanical qualification or relevant experience with BMS and controls.
