Account Manager – Manufacturing / Engineering

Salary: Competitive / Generous package

The Role

This is an 80% Account Management / 20% New Business position.

You’ll take ownership of an existing customer base, developing relationships, understanding their requirements and identifying opportunities to grow those accounts.

Alongside this, you’ll be expected to identify and develop new business opportunities where appropriate.

You’ll have responsibility for the full end-to-end sales function, from initial customer contact and understanding requirements through to quoting, negotiation, order management and ongoing relationship management.

This is not a role where you’ll be judged on arbitrary activity targets or expected to make a set number of calls every day. The focus is on results, relationships and commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage and develop a portfolio of existing customers

* Build strong, long-term relationships with key accounts

* Identify opportunities to increase revenue and grow existing accounts

* Generate and develop new business opportunities

* Manage the complete sales process from enquiry through to order

* Prepare and negotiate quotations and commercial proposals

* Work closely with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are delivered

* Understand customer needs and provide appropriate technical/commercial solutions

* Maintain accurate sales and customer information

* Monitor account performance and identify opportunities for growth

* Achieve agreed sales and revenue targets

* Take ownership of your territory/accounts and drive your own success

About You

We're looking for someone with drive, tenacity and personality.

Ideally, you'll have experience within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial or technical sales environment, although the most important thing is that you understand how to build relationships, manage accounts and win business.

You'll be someone who:

* Has proven Account Management or B2B sales experience

* Ideally comes from a manufacturing, engineering or technical background

* Is commercially minded and confident dealing with customers

* Has the tenacity to follow opportunities through

* Is driven by achieving results

* Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills

* Is comfortable managing the full sales cycle

* Can identify opportunities rather than simply waiting for them to come in

* Has the personality and confidence to build relationships at all levels

* Works well independently and takes ownership of their results
