How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

About HPC

HPC is an award-winning HR and Health & Safety consultancy with a powerful sister company, oneHR, providing cutting-edge SaaS solutions. Together, we deliver a comprehensive, personable offering that helps UK business owners navigate the complexities of HR, Health & Safety, and compliance with confidence. Our clients trust us to be proactive partners in their growth journey. From employee relations and policies to health, wellbeing, safety and fire compliance, we provide practical, commercially-focused solutions that allow business owners to focus on what they do best. We work primarily with ambitious SMEs turning over £1–15 million who need more than a helpline - they need a strategic, fractional HR partner who understands their challenges and provides real world solutions. We also work with a number of enterprise level clients demonstrating our expertise and ability to deliver.

Main Purpose of Job:

As a HR Manager, you will manage your own client portfolio, acting as the primary adviser on all aspects of the HR function. You will provide complex and strategic advice, support organisational change, deliver on-site support, and help shape your clients’ HR approach in line with their business goals. You will also contribute to training delivery, HR projects, policy development, and the overall client experience. The role requires sound judgement, confidence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced consultancy environment while providing clear, practical, legally compliant, and commercially focused HR guidance.

Main Responsibilities:

* Provide accurate, pragmatic HR and employment law advice across the full range of issues affecting SME clients.

* Act as the lead HR Business Partner for designated clients, building strong working relationships and understanding their commercial priorities.

* Manage high-risk and complex ER matters including disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, appeals, TUPE, restructures, redundancy programmes, performance issues and long-term absence.

* Attend client sites to support hearings, consultations, investigations, mediations and manager coaching.

* Contribute to the design and delivery of client HR strategies, workforce planning initiatives, organisational change programmes and culture development work.

* Draft and review contracts, handbooks, HR policies, scripts, letters, investigation reports and settlement documentation.

* Deliver practical, confidence-building training to managers and leadership teams.

* Undertake research, monitor legal developments and ensure all advice reflects current legislation and case law.

* Promote the HPC brand through networking, relationship-building and representing the business at events.

* Identify opportunities for value-added services or additional consultancy support.

* Maintain high professional standards, uphold equality and confidentiality, and act with integrity at all times.

* Take ownership of personal CPD to maintain credibility and expertise.

* Carry out any reasonable duties in support of client and business needs.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

Essential:

* CIPD Level 5 (minimum)

* Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practice within the UK context

* Experience managing complex ER casework from end to end

* Ability to advise confidently at senior level

* Excellent written skills, including drafting formal documentation

* Comfortable working at pace across multiple clients

* Comfortable using a range of IT, digital and online systems and tools

* Ability to travel throughout Liverpool and parts of the North West when required. A valid driving licence is essential due to the nature of the travel

Desirable:

* CIPD Level 7 or working towards it

* Experience working with SMEs or multi-site fast paced environments

* Confident delivering manager training or workshops

* Experience working with recognised trade unions, including consultation and negotiation

Key Competencies: Are aligned with our company values and reflect the need to balance HR expertise with commercial awareness to meet client objectives.
