How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Role summary:

    The Database Administrator role involves managing and optimizing MS SQL database systems to support their critical business applications. The ideal candidate will have experience with MS SQL, database management, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). This position offers a blend of office and remote work, with 2 days per week at their Liverpool Docks office and 3 days remote.

    Key responsibilities

    * Database Management: Maintain and oversee the organization’s database systems, ensuring they comply with data protection regulations and security protocols.

    * Infrastructure Maintenance: Design, implement, and maintain a secure and robust MS SQL database infrastructure to support mission-critical applications and optimize database performance.

    * Data Integrity: Ensure accuracy and integrity through stringent validation processes and proactive issue resolution.

    * Strategic Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive backup, disaster recovery, and data retention strategies.

    * Capacity Planning: Assist in anticipating and accommodating growing data needs, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.

    * Performance and Security: Monitor and enhance the performance, reliability, and security of the database systems, ensuring timely issue resolution.

    * Support and Troubleshooting: Support and troubleshoot database-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    *

    Database Expertise: Proficiency in managing and optimizing MS SQL databases on premise and on Microsoft Azure.

    *

    Technical Skills: MS SQL Server Management on premise and Azure Cloud, T-SQL, Python, Azure infrastructure, Spark, DataBricks, Airflow and dbt with element of Data Modelling (Star/Snowflake schemas).

    *

    Performance Optimization: Proven ability to maintain high availability, performance, and security for database systems.

    *

    Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot database and server issues efficiently.

    *

    Strong adaptability to work in a challenging development environment.

    *

    Experience: Ideally, 5-10 years of relevant experience in database administration.

    * Cloud Experience: Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.

    Personal Specifications:

    * Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.

    * Positive and self-motivated

    * Communicates easily, as liaising with development team and other IT teams will be a vital attribute for the role.
