Mechanical Design Engineer Role:
Identifying critical problems, attending design reviews and project reviews as required.
Work in a simultaneous engineering environment to support product development, ensuring design for service and achieving quality by design.
Liaising closely with suppliers and customers to achieve high-quality, cost-effective products.
Keeping up to date in relevant technical areas, developing skills and capabilities, and giving support to others as required.
Initiating ideas and performing needs analysis.
Communicating technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other business units.
Design detailing, bill of materials compilation and drawing release.
Actively participate in business unit improvement activities.
Mechanical Design Engineer Requirements:
You will be expected to demonstrate competency in ideally powertrain or vehicle systems, ideally in rolling stock or medium duty off highway sector.
Educated to HNC level (or equivalent) in an associated technical mechanical/automotive engineering discipline.
A competent 3D CAD user and a working knowledge of other associated supporting software tools.
Experience of mobile off-highway/vehicle equipment is beneficial.
5 years minimum within a hands-on design environment.
Diesel engine experience is beneficial.
Experience of 3D CAD design.
Experience of Welded fabrications, large assemblies, etc. is beneficial.
BS. 8888 drawing standards.
Have a hands-on approach to engineering design and development.
Appreciation of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems as used on off-highway mobile products may be useful.
An ability to work independently and with other members of a multi-disciplined teams within the business.
Excellent technical aptitude.
Previous experience of engineering projects/activities.
Planning and priority setting.
Microsoft office
This is an on-site role but offers some flexibility with working hours.
