Job Description
Medway Council is recruiting dedicated and qualified Social Workers to join its permanent workforce across statutory services. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive local authority environment, delivering high‑quality, person‑centred social work practice to improve outcomes for service users and their families.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake assessments, care planning, and reviews in line with statutory duties
* Manage a varied caseload, prioritising risk, safeguarding, and positive outcomes
* Carry out visits, direct work, and interventions with service users and families
* Make clear, proportionate, and evidence‑based decisions
* Prepare accurate reports for reviews, meetings, and court (where applicable)
* Work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners
* Maintain timely, high‑quality case records using council IT systems
* Ensure all practice aligns with legislation, council policies, and professional standards
Requirements
Essential:
* Qualified Social Worker (Degree / DipSW / CQSW)
* Social Work England registration
* Recent UK social work experience
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and relevant legislation
* Excellent assessment, communication, and recording skills
* Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
* Local authority experience
* Experience within Children’s Services or Adult Social Care
* Court work or complex case experience
* Familiarity with systems such as Liquidlogic or Mosaic
