How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established business in Battle for an experienced Yard Operative to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis.

    This Yard Operative role is focused on goods in and goods out operations within a busy yard environment. The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day goods in/out activity, ensuring the yard runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

    This is a hands-on position where you will be trusted to manage your own workload across goods in, goods out, stock movement, and general yard duties with minimal supervision.

    What’s on Offer:

    Location: Battle, East Sussex
    Pay Rate: £14.00 per hour
    Work Type: Full-time, temp to perm 

    Key Responsibilities

    Carrying out daily Yard Operative duties
    Loading and unloading goods in/out safely and accurately
    Operating a counterbalance forklift within the yard (essential)
    Organising goods in/out stock and ensuring all movements are recorded correctly
    Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised yard at all times
    Supporting wider yard operations as required
    Taking ownership of Yard Operative responsibilities with minimal supervision 

    Skills, Experience and Requirements

    Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Yard Operative (essential)
    Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (essential)
    Strong experience in goods in and goods out operations
    Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
    Strong awareness of yard health and safety procedures
    Positive, proactive approach
    Able to take ownership of the yard
    Must have own safety boots (mandatory)
