Materials Controller
Location: Leeds
Salary: £29,345
Hours: Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week (Flexible start and finish times)
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Materials Controller to join a busy maintenance and engineering operation in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with a background in materials control, logistics, stores, or supply chain operations.
Working within the Stores team, you will play a key role in ensuring materials and components are received, controlled, stored and distributed efficiently to support operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing goods inwards and ensuring materials are stored correctly and accurately.
* Raising requisitions and purchase orders.
* Preparing materials for shipment and overhaul.
* Loading and unloading deliveries safely and efficiently.
* Issuing materials to operational teams.
* Carrying out stock counts and inventory control activities.
* Monitoring material usage and stock levels.
* Expediting orders and liaising with suppliers where required.
* Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards to promote efficiency and safety.
* Working closely with stores and operational teams to ensure material availability.
* Following company procedures and maintaining accurate records.
About You
* Strong understanding of materials control, stock management and purchasing processes.
* Experience processing purchase orders and managing inventory.
* Excellent planning and organisational skills.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines.
* Proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong commitment to health and safety.
Essential Requirements
- Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Eligibility to drive company vehicles in accordance with the company's motor insurance policy.
- Maximum of 6 penalty points.
Desirable Experience
- Telehandler operating experience.
- Overhead crane operating experience
- Experience within engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, heavy industry or rail environments.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday.
- 39 hours per week.
- Flexible start times between 7:00am and 10:00am.
- 8 hour working day with a 30 minute unpaid break.
