What are you going to do?
The Lab Assistant supports the daily operations within the Protein Applications Lab and contributes to an efficient and well-structured laboratory process. You prepare raw materials, ingredients, and equipment for application trials and assist in the development and production of food prototypes, such as gels, emulsions, and meat- and plant-based applications. In addition, you support customer visits and on-site demonstrations.
You perform basic analyses, including hydration, texture, and taste evaluations, and accurately record results in accordance with laboratory standards. You are also responsible for organizing, storing, and preparing samples for shipment, as well as managing the inventory of raw materials and consumables.
Furthermore, you maintain laboratory equipment and ensure the lab remains clean, safe, and compliant with hygiene and food safety requirements, including HACCP. You work accurately, follow safety protocols, and contribute to delivering high-quality application results for both internal and external stakeholders.

This is you!
• Excellent in English speaking and writing, understanding Dutch is a plus. • MBO level in food, hospitality or related field. • Experience in a food laboratory, pilot plant, kitchen or production environment is a plus. • Familiarity with lab or kitchen equipment and basic food analysis methods preferred. • Living in the vicinity of Wageningen • Strong attention to detail, high accuracy, good organizational and time management skills. • Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures. • Team oriented, proactive, and comfortable in a hands on role.
