As a QA Automation Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of the websites that power our auction platforms. In this role, you'll design, build, and maintain automated testing frameworks that validate critical user experiences across our online auctioning platform. Through a blend of hands-on test automation and team leadership, you'll contribute to positioning TBAuctions and its brands as leaders in the online auction industry.

You'll lead a team of three QA engineers while working closely with cross-functional teams across multiple locations, shaping our testing strategy and championing quality throughout the development lifecycle.

Test Automation & Development

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using Cypress to validate auction browsing, real-time bidding, user dashboards, and payment flows

• Write clean, maintainable test code that integrates seamlessly with our Next.js applications

• Expand test coverage across responsive designs, ensuring quality across all devices

• Contribute to testing strategies for real-time features that power our live auction experiences

Quality Strategy & Process

• Define and implement testing standards, best practices, and automation patterns across the frontend platform

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, enabling fast feedback loops

• Establish quality metrics and reporting to provide visibility into application health and test coverage

• Collaborate with developers to implement shift-left testing practices and improve overall code quality

Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of three QA engineers, fostering growth and technical development

• Coordinate testing efforts across sprints, balancing automation development with release support

• Conduct code reviews for test automation and guide the team on best practices

• Champion a quality-first mindset across the wider development organisation

Collaboration & Improvement

• Partner with developers, product managers, and designers to understand requirements and identify testing needs early

• Collaborate with local and international teams to deliver high-quality, reliable releases

• Participate in architectural discussions, representing quality considerations in technical decisions

• Drive continuous improvement in testing tools, processes, and team capabilities

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Cypress with 5+ years in QA automation

• Solid understanding of React and Next.js applications from a testing perspective

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred)

• Familiarity with Azure cloud infrastructure and deployment patterns

• Understanding of frontend performance considerations and how they impact test design

• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools

Leadership Skills

• Proven experience leading or mentoring QA team members

• Ability to balance hands-on technical work with team coordination and strategic thinking

• Strong communication skills, able to articulate quality risks and testing status to technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Experience defining testing processes and standards within an agile environment
