Are you passionate about technology and the environment? Our start-up in the green tech industry (innovative drilling technique for heat pumps) is looking for a technical head of operations (future COO), eager to lead the tech team on a day-to-day basis and make a difference in the world of sustainable technology.

One of the big sources of CO2 is the heating of homes, and currently many home owners search for solutions how to electrify the heating of their homes. Today, the most efficient solution, the ground bounded heat pump is available only to a (rich) few. Our mission is to enable all home owners to comfortably heat their home with these superior heat pumps by solving its Achilles’ heel, which is the drilling of the well.

GEHECO is a start-up focusing on placing the wells for ground-bounded heat pumps in existing houses. In order to do so, we are developing a revolutionary new drill tool that is able to place the wells way easier and cheaper, ultimately from within the home, see our short movie for an explanation of the technology.

Position: (Technical) Head of Operations

• Steer the team; you will guide your tech colleagues, organize the work, assign the tasks and manage the technical team and assure the planning and goals are met


• At the heart of your activities will be the constant development of the team members to coach them in their job and let them grow as professionals


• You will help to keep your very passionate technical colleagues on track, you have a technical background and truly understand the technical challenges they cope with. Your strong pragmatic and methodic way of working, allows you to keep them working steadily towards the goal, clear practical issues and prevent them to get (too much) distracted in technical sidetracks or opportunities.


• Organize the success, practically and methodologically, you constantly find ways to improve and optimize.
  
  
  • In the early stage you plan, organize and manage the rapid development cycles to build the prototypes and run the many tests in a high pace.
  
  
  • In the phase afterwards, you also manage the execution of the first client demos with our installation partners.
  
  
  • In a later stage, you will be responsible for the production process and the practical delivery of our products and services towards our partners and clients.
  
  


• You will be part of the GEHECO leadership team, helping to navigate us towards the future.

• You have strong coordination skills, you know from experience how to steer technical teams and organize success, by planning the work and managing the progression.


• You have a great passion for people, you can see where their main qualities lie, which roles suit them best and how to constantly develop them to bring them to a higher level.


• You are an experienced manager, and a true team player that know how to motivate and manage a team and intuitively set the scene to maximizes the output.


• You continuously improve processes and optimize the way we work.


• You are very responsible and targeted, you are very organized/structured, and are able to keep your team on track.


• You own a technical degree (HBO/WO), have interest and understanding of the technical principles we work with.


• At least 8 years of working experience in a technical role in the field of engineering, building or prototyping of which at least 4 years as a manager or team leader.


• You have several years of bringing a prototype to production’ experience and associated supply chain & logistics management skills.


• It is a pre if you have experience in doing (technological) research and know how to effectively runs tests and experiments.


• You are passionate for green technology and sustainability initiatives.


• You are legally allowed to work in the Netherlands (we cannot provide in a work permit).

• Based in Delft, a bit of hybrid working is possible however, we expect you to spend quite some time in the office / workshop with the team.
