The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We are recruiting for a motivated Junior Buyer for our client based in Knutsford, where you will be required to work within a small team to support with the procurement of materials, plant, equipment, and subcontract services for various projects. Working alongside site teams, suppliers, and the senior procurement team, you will play a key role in ensuring materials are supplied on time for projects and within budget. Training will be provided for the Junior Buyer role, although you must already have a strong understanding of the construction industry, excellent negotiation skills and be confident communicating with people at all levels. This role will require regular travel, so a driving licence is essential.
Job Description for the Junior Buyer role:
Support the procurement of construction materials, plant, and equipment to meet project requirements.
Source, obtain, and evaluate supplier quotations to secure the best value
Prepare and process purchase orders accurately
Track delivery schedules and liaise with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries
Maintain up-to-date supplier records, pricing data, and procurement databases
Collaborate with Project Managers and site teams to identify material requirement
Resolve delivery issues, shortages and invoice discrepancies.
Negotiate supplier pricing, payment terms, and supply agreements under supervision
Produce procurement reports and maintain accurate purchasing records
Regular site travel required to meet with Project Managers and site teams
Be able to support with tasks outside your core responsibilities, providing flexible support where needed across the business to support the wider team Candidate Requirements for the Junior Buyer role:
Must have strong knowledge of the construction industry
Ideally have an understanding of purchasing and supply chain principles
Knowledge of various materials
Driving licence is essential as you will be required to travel to various sites
Excellent communication skills and be able to build relationships
Be able to work to own initiative
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
