operational and commercial ownership of multiple concurrent mechanical projects across
the North East. Based from our Newcastle office, you will oversee a varied portfolio of
commercial, industrial, and public sector mechanical installations, plant upgrades, and
HVAC capital works.
This is a dynamic role suited for a strategic thinker who can successfully manage client
relationships, drive projects from initial design and procurement through to final
commissioning, and juggle multiple fast-paced sites simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
● Multi-Project Management: Simultaneously lead, plan, and deliver multiple
mechanical engineering projects, ensuring all deliverables are met on time, within
budget, and to the highest standard.
● Commercial & Financial Control: Manage project budgets, forecasting, variations,
applications for payment, and final accounts, working closely with the commercial
team to maximize profitability.
● Procurement & Resource Allocation: Oversee the procurement of specialist
mechanical plant, equipment, and materials, while effectively scheduling internal
engineers and sub-contractors across various sites.
● H&S Leadership: Champion site safety by ensuring robust implementation of RAMS
(Risk Assessments and Method Statements), CDM regulations, and health and
safety audits across all active projects.
● Design & Technical Oversight: Review technical drawings, specifications, and Bills
of Materials (BOMs), collaborating with engineering teams to resolve complex design
or site challenges.
● Client & Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients,
main contractors, and consultants, chairing progress meetings and maintaining
exceptional working relationships.
Candidate Requirements
● Experience: Proven track record managing multiple mechanical engineering or
HVAC projects concurrently within a construction, industrial, or FM environment.
● Qualifications: Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services,
or a related trade background (HNC/HND/Degree or time-served mechanical
pedigree).
● Safety & Management Certifications: Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety
Training Scheme), IOSH Managing Safely, or formal project management
methodologies (APM / PRINCE2).
● Commercial Acumen: Strong financial awareness, contract administration
experience (e.g., JCT / NEC), and a proven ability to manage project variations.
● Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence.
