The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Quantity Surveyor / Estimator
£55,000 £60,000 + Car Allowance (flexibility)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join a well-established and growing construction business delivering a diverse portfolio of projects valued up to £2.5m.
This is a dynamic role offering genuine responsibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to work across multiple live projects within a supportive and ambitious commercial team.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of all commercial aspects of projects from pre-construction through to final account. You will typically manage between 35 live projects simultaneously, ensuring commercial performance, financial control, and successful delivery throughout.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing all commercial aspects of construction projects up to £2.5m
Pricing and procuring subcontract packages
Preparing valuations, cost reports, and financial forecasting
Managing variations and change control processes
Producing and agreeing final accounts
Supporting estimating and tendering functions as required
Maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
About You
We are looking for a motivated self-starter with strong commercial awareness and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
Degree or HNC qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline
Proven experience within a Quantity Surveyor / Commercial role
Estimating experience and ability to support tender pricing
Strong negotiation and financial reporting skills
Excellent organisational and communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
