Environmental Advisor - Water Quality & Environmental Programmes
Location: Remote (Wales-based with occasional travel to office locations and project sites as required)
Pay Rate: £19.54 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday
About the Role
We are seeking an Environmental Advisor to support a high-profile environmental programme focused on improving water quality across Wales' river catchments and Special Areas of Conservation (SACs).
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide environmental expertise and support the development and delivery of initiatives aimed at improving water quality, nutrient management and environmental compliance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional with experience in water quality, ecology, environmental regulation or catchment management to contribute to projects delivering tangible environmental benefits across Wales.
You will play a key role in analysing environmental data, supporting evidence-based decision making and working with a range of stakeholders to help protect and enhance Wales' valuable freshwater ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide environmental advice and support on projects focused on improving water quality and river health.
- Review, analyse and interpret water quality, nutrient monitoring and environmental data.
- Support the development of strategies and recommendations to improve the ecological status of rivers, catchments and protected habitats.
- Assist with environmental assessments, reporting and compliance activities.
- Contribute to the delivery of nutrient management and water quality improvement initiatives.
- Engage with internal teams, regulators, environmental specialists and external stakeholders.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, environmental documentation and evidence submissions.
- Monitor environmental outcomes and contribute to programme performance reporting.
- Ensure activities align with relevant environmental legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice guidance.
- Assist in identifying environmental risks and opportunities associated with programme delivery.
About You

You will have experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Water Quality Management

Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience working within an environmental, ecological, water quality or regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation, policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to analyse and interpret environmental or technical data.
- Strong report writing and technical communication skills.
- Experience engaging with a range of stakeholders, including regulators and environmental specialists.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote working environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and environmental reporting systems.
