The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
The Section Engineer is responsible for the safe, timely and compliant delivery of a defined section of the Rail Sidings works. The role involves coordinating construction activities, managing specialist subcontractors (including drainage and soil nailing), ensuring quality standards are achieved, and maintaining programme and commercial performance whilst upholding the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
Main Responsibilities
* Safe delivery of the Sidings construction works.
* Completion of drainage installation to programme.
* Compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
* Accurate engineering records and as-built documentation.
* Effective coordination of subcontractors and project interfaces.
Construction Delivery
* Plan and coordinate day-to-day construction activities across the Sidings works.
* Manage the delivery of permanent drainage systems, earthworks interfaces and soil nail stabilisation works.
* Ensure works are delivered in accordance with the construction programme and key milestones.
* Coordinate interfaces between drainage, geotechnical, earthworks and follow-on rail infrastructure activities.
* Identify and remove construction constraints to maximise productivity
Engineering & Technical
* Interpret construction drawings, specifications and design information.
* Resolve technical issues with the Temporary Works Coordinator and Design Team.
* Raise RFIs and Technical Queries where required.
* Ensure construction is carried out to approved IFC drawings.
* Monitor temporary works compliance.
* Coordinate setting out requirements with the site engineering team.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
* Ensure all works comply with HSE standards, CDM Regulations, and project safety procedures.
* Knowledge of construction techniques, sequencing and best practice.
* Ability to use initiative based on practical Engineering experience.
* Capable of working independently and proactively to progress works but also skilled at working collaboratively with other integrated team members and external stakeholders for the overall benefit of the project.
* Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Document Control Systems, Auto CAD).
* Excellent communication skills and ability to adjust communication style to suite receiver.
* Relevant CSCS Card.
* Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management
