How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The Teaching and Development Coordinator (TDC) is a strategic role focused on embedding high-quality Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA) practices across the organisation. Working collaboratively with curriculum, quality and leadership teams, you will play a key role in supporting and evaluating the organisation’s TLA strategy to drive continuous improvement in teaching practice and learner outcomes.
You will provide coaching, mentoring and professional development support to teaching staff, while contributing to the planning, delivery and evaluation of CPD and other staff development activities. The role also supports self-assessment, quality improvement planning and inspection readiness, helping to implement and monitor actions that enhance teaching, learning and assessment across the organisation.
As our Coach, you will have a proven track record of delivering outstanding teaching, learning and assessment (feedback via observations). You will be experienced in creating engaging, innovative learning experiences through the effective use of digital tools and educational technology. You will have significant experience supporting High Needs and SEND learners, with a strong understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and strategies to meet a wide range of individual learning needs. A sound knowledge of safeguarding, PREVENT and the promotion of British Values is essential.
An effective communicator, you will be confident in building positive relationships with staff at all levels, providing coaching and mentoring support to both new and established colleagues. With a strong understanding of stretch and challenge and their impact on learner progress, you will be able to identify, model and share best practice across the Group, as well as design and deliver high-quality staff development (CPD) activities.
This is a cross-group role and will require travelling across the South Thames Colleges Group.
Closing date for the return of completed applications is 4th September 2026.
Interviews will be held on Wednesday 16th September 2026 at Kingston College.
The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 27 days plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year as well as an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave to enhance employees’ physical and mental health. There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme. The benefits package will be pro-rated for part time staff.
As part of our due diligence checks on prospective employees, successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, an online search and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
As outlined in the Public Sector Equality Duty of the Equality Act 2010, we are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
The South Thames Colleges Group is made up of Carshalton College, Kingston College, Merton College and South Thames College, which merged on 1 August 2017. South Thames Colleges Group is one of London’s largest providers of post-16 education and training and is an ongoing and significant contributor to its local communities. We aim to put students’ success at the heart of everything we do.
We are looking for hard-working and collaborative people who can join our team and help challenge our students to achieve and progress
