The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
A growing and well-established civil engineering contractor with a turnover of approximately £40m is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Agent to support the delivery of a major highways upgrade project.

The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of key sections of the scheme, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
The project will involve a broad range of civil engineering activities including:
- Earthworks
- Drainage installation
- RC structures and associated civils
- Kerbing and paving
- Road construction and surfacing preparation
- Utilities coordination
- Traffic management interfaces
Key Responsibilities
- Managing site operations and subcontractors
- Ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance
- Coordinating labour, plant, and materials
- Driving programme and productivity on site
- Liaising with engineers, clients, and stakeholders
- Reviewing RAMS, permits, and temporary works
- Maintaining quality assurance and site documentation
- Supporting commercial and programme reporting
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Agent on highways or major civils projects
- Strong background in earthworks, drainage, structures, and paving
- Excellent understanding of NEC contracts and site procedures
- SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications
- Ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors effectively
- Strong communication and organisational skills
