Gray Matter Ltd is developing a new 2-bed therapeutic children's home in Sutton, Surrey, and we are looking for an experienced Responsible Individual to provide strong governance, oversight and regulatory leadership as the home progresses through registration and opening.
This is an opportunity to work alongside the Director and Registered Manager to establish a high-quality children's home focused on safeguarding, positive outcomes and therapeutic, relationship-based care.
THE ROLE
As Responsible Individual, you will provide oversight of the home's management and ensure that the service is operating safely, effectively and in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations and Ofsted requirements.
You will:
* Provide oversight of the Registered Manager and the home's overall operation.
* Maintain strong safeguarding and child protection oversight.
* Work with the Registered Manager to ensure high standards of care and practice.
* Monitor quality assurance, compliance and continuous improvement.
* Review the home's performance, incidents, complaints and safeguarding matters.
* Ensure appropriate action is taken where concerns or areas for improvement are identified.
* Maintain effective communication with Ofsted and relevant external agencies.
* Support preparation for Ofsted registration and inspection.
* Review monitoring and quality assurance information.
* Promote a strong culture of safeguarding, accountability and reflective practice.
* Support the organisation to maintain compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
* Work closely with the Director and Registered Manager to ensure the home is well governed.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for an experienced children's residential professional with strong knowledge of Ofsted regulation, safeguarding and quality assurance.
You should have:
* Significant experience within children's residential care.
* Strong knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
* Experience overseeing or managing children's residential services.
* Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge.
* Experience working with Ofsted and regulatory compliance.
* Experience monitoring quality, performance and service improvement.
* Strong understanding of risk management and safeguarding practice.
* Excellent communication and professional judgement.
* The ability to provide effective oversight and challenge to a Registered Manager.
* A strong commitment to children's rights, welfare and positive outcomes.
Previous experience as a Responsible Individual is highly desirable. Experience supporting a children's home through Ofsted registration, inspection or improvement would also be advantageous.
