The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor working on a major data centre scheme in Dunstable.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a high-profile project, working alongside an experienced commercial team on a complex and fast-paced scheme.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of the project, working closely with the Senior QS, Project Manager, subcontractors and wider project team.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting with the commercial management of the project
Managing subcontractor packages and accounts
Preparing and reviewing subcontract orders and valuations
Cost reporting and forecasting
Managing variations and change control
Preparing monthly applications and payment assessments
Assisting with final accounts
Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks
Supporting procurement and subcontractor negotiations
Maintaining accurate commercial records
Working closely with the wider project team to ensure successful project delivery
About You
We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a main contracting background, ideally with experience working on large-scale commercial, industrial, data centre or other complex construction projects.
You should have:
Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor
Strong commercial awareness
Experience managing subcontractor packages
Good knowledge of construction contracts and commercial processes
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work effectively within a busy project environment
Experience with NEC and/or JCT contracts would be advantageous
