The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We’re recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor delivering a major data centre project in Dunstable.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS to develop their career on one of the UK’s fastest-growing construction sectors, working alongside an experienced commercial team on a flagship project.
The Role
Supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider commercial team, you’ll gain exposure to all aspects of project commercial management while taking ownership of key responsibilities.
Your duties will include:
Assisting with subcontract procurement and package management
Preparing valuations, payment applications and cost reports
Managing subcontractor accounts and payment assessments
Supporting the management of variations and change control
Monitoring project costs against budget
Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation
Assisting with monthly financial reporting and forecasting
Liaising with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
Supporting the preparation of final accounts
About You
We’re looking for someone who is eager to progress their career within a main contracting environment.
Ideally, you’ll have:
Experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor within construction
Main contractor experience preferred
A Quantity Surveying degree or working towards one
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Excellent communication and organisational abilities
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Knowledge of NEC or JCT contracts is beneficial but not essential
