How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Bedfordshire
    Working Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday
    Salary: Up to £40,000pa, depending on experience and capability, plus benefits

    Our client is an established and innovative UK-based manufacturer operating in a specialist technology sector, with a strong international customer base.

    The Role

    We are looking for an Assembly & Test Technician to join the Manufacturing team. This is a hands-on, varied role combining mechanical and electrical/electronic assembly, soldering, product testing, calibration and fault-finding.

    You will have the opportunity to take products through the manufacturing process from kitting and assembly through to final testing, packing and despatch.

    The successful candidate will be comfortable working with a high degree of independence, following detailed work instructions and test procedures, maintaining accurate records and identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing and testing processes.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Wire, assemble and hand-solder electrical and electronic components in accordance with work instructions.

    * Pick assembly kits from stock and report shortages.

    * Carry out receipt and inspection of incoming materials.

    * Pack finished products for customers and items for external processing.

    * Carry out sub-assembly and final product testing using approved test procedures.

    * Perform calibration activities where required.

    * Verify product functionality, performance and quality prior to release.

    * Operate and maintain production test equipment and fixtures.

    * Accurately record test results and maintain production and calibration records.

    * Support first-off inspections, batch verification and selected incoming inspection activities.

    About You

    We are looking for someone with practical electronics/electro-mechanical manufacturing experience who enjoys hands-on technical work and problem solving.

    Essential Experience & Skills

    * Previous experience in an electronics or electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.

    * Good standard of hand soldering, including wiring and electronic components.

    * Ability to fault-find electronic assemblies to module level.

    * Ability to follow detailed test procedures accurately.

    * Good understanding of electronic circuits and basic test methods.

    * Experience using electronic test equipment such as digital multimeters and oscilloscopes.

    Desirable

    * HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience in Electronics Engineering.

    * Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality systems.

    * Experience testing RF, wireless or GPS products
