The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Ceto Talent is partnering with a leading engineering business to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical systems for major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys combining technical expertise with project leadership, delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions from concept through to commissioning.
What you'll be doing:
✅ Leading the mechanical design of water and wastewater treatment projects, ensuring technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
✅ Producing and reviewing detailed mechanical designs, including 3D models, equipment layouts, specifications and calculations.
✅ Designing key mechanical systems including pumps, pipelines, valves, tanks, blowers and filtration equipment.
✅ Collaborating with civil, electrical, control and process engineering teams to deliver fully integrated engineering solutions.
✅ Reviewing technical documentation, conducting design reviews and ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
✅ Supporting procurement, installation and commissioning activities, providing expert mechanical engineering guidance.
✅ Identifying and managing design risks while promoting safe, efficient and sustainable engineering solutions.
✅ Mentoring junior engineers and supporting the continued development of the mechanical design team.
✅ Building strong relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders throughout project delivery.
✅ Driving continuous improvement by embracing new technologies, value engineering and sustainable design practices.
We're looking for someone with:
✔️ 7–10 years' experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally within the UK water or wastewater sector.
✔️ Proven experience delivering multidisciplinary water treatment projects.
✔️ Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including pumps, piping, valves, blowers and filtration equipment.
✔️ Experience supporting projects through design, procurement, installation and commissioning.
✔️ A strong understanding of UK engineering standards, HSE requirements and environmental regulations.
✔️ A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline).
✔️ Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or actively working towards chartership.
✔️ Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable:
* Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar mechanical design software.
