The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
A leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team in Manchester.
Working across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects valued from £200k to £10m+, you will play a key role in driving commercial performance, managing risk, and supporting project delivery teams across a range of civil engineering, water, utilities and infrastructure schemes.
The Role
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring robust cost control, forecasting, reporting and contract administration throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
Producing accurate cost and value reporting, forecasting and monthly CVRs
Managing project cash flow and applications for payment
Procuring and managing subcontractors from tender through to final account
Administering NEC contracts and managing contractual change
Identifying and mitigating commercial risks and maximising opportunities
Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team
Providing commercial guidance to project delivery teams
About You
To be considered, you will have:
Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, utilities, water or infrastructure projects
Strong NEC3/NEC4 contract knowledge
Proven experience managing subcontract procurement and commercial performance
Experience producing CVRs, forecasts and cost reports
Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Excellent communication and organisational abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines
Desirable
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
RICS, CICES or working towards professional accreditation
CSCS Card
Experience within a direct delivery contracting environment
Previous people management or mentoring experience
