Are you an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer with a background in automation, special-purpose machinery or complex industrial systems?
Join a global engineering and automation business specialising in advanced industrial systems and manufacturing technology, where you’ll play a key role in supporting the design and production of complex equipment. You’ll work across electrical design, industrial controls, safety systems and testing, collaborating closely with production and engineering teams.
Electrical Controls Engineer - The Role:
Produce standard and bespoke wiring drawings and BOMs
Complete electrical design work, calculations and technical documentation
Design and specify drive control systems, industrial PCs, safety PLCs and inverters
Provide technical support and best practice for industrial panel design
Ensure designs meet relevant regulatory, safety and test requirements
Develop test rigs, prototypes and control systems
Produce Safety Buy-Off documentation
Complete calculations to BS EN 13849 with a strong understanding of EN 60204
Work closely with suppliers to ensure equipment meets performance requirements
Support the production and manufacturing teams throughout equipment build
Work across projects with internal teams, customers and suppliers
Electrical Controls Engineer - The Person:
HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
c4-7 years'+ relevant engineering experience
Previous experience in a design engineering role
Background in automation, product handling or special-purpose machinery
Experienced with AutoCAD Electrical/Mechanical, EPLAN and Microsoft Office
Strong understanding of wiring diagrams and electrical control systems
Able to interpret technical drawings and design specifications
Experience with project management
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Full UK valid driving licence required for site surveys
Experience within nuclear, robotics, automation, machine tools, hydraulics or pneumatics would be advantageous.
