How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

Are you a passionate English Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference?

Do you have the skills and experience to inspire students with SEMH and additional needs?

Could you use your English expertise to build confidence, improve literacy and unlock students' potential?

Would you like to join a supportive specialist setting where every student is given the opportunity to succeed?

Inspire, Support and Transform Lives

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate English Teacher to join our specialist secondary provision, supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to teach and inspire students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, PDA, OCD and ODD, within a supportive environment that prioritises individual progress, wellbeing and achievement.

About the Role

As an SEMH English Teacher, you will deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons to students on either a one-to-one basis or in small group settings. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), with Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) tailored to their individual outcomes and aspirations.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will create an inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, valued and empowered to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

Plan and deliver engaging English lessons that meet the individual needs of learners with SEMH and SEND.
Develop schemes of work, medium-term and short-term planning that promote progress and engagement.
Differentiate learning to ensure every student can access the curriculum and achieve success.
Monitor, assess and record student progress, providing constructive feedback and setting ambitious but achievable targets.
Produce and review Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), SEN Passports and contribute to annual EHCP reviews and provision mapping.
Promote literacy across the curriculum while supporting students to overcome barriers to learning.
Deliver targeted interventions to accelerate progress and raise attainment.
Build positive, trusting relationships with students, providing pastoral support where required.
Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, HLTAs and colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for learners.
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and achievement in line with the school's behaviour policy.
Create a stimulating, safe and well-organised classroom environment.
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and development.
Contribute to the wider life of the school, attending meetings, training and professional development opportunities.
About You

The successful candidate will have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Experience teaching English at secondary level.
Experience working with students with SEMH, SEN and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
A proven track record of securing positive outcomes for young people.
Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
The ability to create innovative, engaging and differentiated lesson plans.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
A proactive, resilient and compassionate approach to teaching.
A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and ensuring every student can achieve their potential.
What We Offer

In return, we offer:

The opportunity to make a genuine impact on the lives of young people.
On-site parking available for car drivers.
A supportive and collaborative staff team.
Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities.
A rewarding role within a specialist educational setting.
Access to high-quality resources and a nurturing working environment.
If you are a passionate English Teacher who believes every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, we would love to hear from you.
