The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
An established heavy engineering manufacturer is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activity across a complex manufacturing site. This senior role will ensure cost-effective, resilient supply of engineered components, materials and services, while modernising procurement processes, managing commercial risk, negotiating high-value contracts and developing strategic supplier relationships globally.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver site procurement strategies, managing purchasing budgets, expenditure, working capital and cost-saving initiatives aligned with wider commercial objectives.
* Lead sourcing, tendering, ITT/RFP processes and high-value contract negotiations, securing competitive pricing, favourable commercial terms, SLAs and robust contractual arrangements.
* Manage and develop domestic and international supplier networks, including supplier selection, auditing, performance management, risk mitigation and supply chain resilience.
* Support major capital expenditure projects, working closely with Engineering and Operations to procure heavy machinery and assets from initial specification through to delivery and deployment.
* Lead, mentor and develop the purchasing team while collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Operations and Finance to maintain material availability, compliance and high procurement standards.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager, Procurement Manager or Supply Chain Manager
* Experience within a medium to heavy engineering environment
* CIPS / MCIPS certified
* HNC/HND or above in relevant subject
* Strong ERP/MRP experience, preferable with SAP
Location: Rochdale
Permanent Full Time, 37.5 hours per week, Mon - Fri
