The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Our client, a thriving and well-established engineering consultancy, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their growing team based in St Albans. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering a diverse range of projects including domestic residential schemes, residential developments and other infrastructure works.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of civil engineering projects from initial concept through to completion, ensuring high technical standards and strong client satisfaction. The role involves developing practical design solutions, preparing detailed drainage and infrastructure designs, and working closely with clients, architects and other project stakeholders.
The Senior Civil Engineer will also support and guide other members of the team, provide technical oversight, undertake design quality checks and assist with project management responsibilities including monitoring project fees against agreed scopes of service. The role will involve attending meetings, carrying out site visits and preparing or reviewing technical reports.
Applicants should hold a degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification and ideally be Chartered, or working towards chartership, with the Institution of Civil Engineers. Experience using industry-standard design software such as Civil 3D, Causeway, PDS, Flow and drainage tools including InfraWorks or MicroDrainage would be advantageous.
