We are currently looking for a General Operativeto join our friendly team based at our Tarmac Gore Quarry, Walton, Presteigne.As well as Presteigne, this role is easily accessible if you live in Hereford, Builth Wells, Ludlow, Llanwrtyd Wells, Leominster and the surrounding areas.

This role will be working 40hrs per week Monday to Friday with the option to work overtime when available

The role of General Operative gives you the opportunity to be part of our Ofsted outstanding Professional Operator Development Programme (PODP).We're passionate about development and progression here at Tarmac, and PODP provides an excellent foundation, giving you the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and confidence to be successful both personally and professionally.On completion of the programme, you will receive the Level 2 apprenticeship certification and an Industry recognised vocational qualification for the job role.

Main Responsibilities

As the successful candidate for the role of General Operative you will be a part of the Multi-Skilled Operative team which produces dry aggregates material for the construction industry.As well as delivering best in class Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance for our Plant operations.

The role of General Operativewill specifically focus on operational tasks including:

· Operating the onsite asphalt / quarry plant equipment to produce various different type of building materials product

· Driving efficiencies and plant optimisation

· Working with aggregates on site and operating machinery as per the role of General Plant Operative (including operating mobile plant)

· Day to day maintenance, maintaining the highest levels of housekeeping

· Maintenance and driving a culture of zero harm and behavioural safety

· Compliance and awareness Health and Safety measure around the site

FULL TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED ON ALL MOBILE AND FIXED PLANT EQUIPMENT

The Ideal Candidate

Suitable candidates for the role of General Operative will be:

· Flexible and able to work as part of an effective Multi-Skilled Operative team

· Self motivated and able to motivate other colleagues in the team

· IT literate
