This NPI Manufacturing Engineer role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced engineering environment and enjoys taking new products from concept through to full production. The successful NPI Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in driving industrialisation activities, improving manufacturability, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from concept through to production ramp-up
Design and develop tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes for metallic components and assemblies
Produce manufacturing documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and process flows
Work closely with Design Engineering to improve design for manufacture (DFM) and producibility
Support project delivery through effective planning, risk management, and milestone tracking
Collaborate with Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure smooth product industrialisation
Support PFMEA/DFMEA activities and drive risk mitigation actions during NPI phases
Liaise with external suppliers regarding tooling and manufacturing support
Assess manufacturing methods to ensure the most cost-effective production solutions
Support capital equipment and tooling investment justifications
Ensure manufacturing processes comply with relevant quality and regulatory standardsSkills & Experience Required
Previous experience within an NPI Manufacturing Engineer or Manufacturing Engineering position
Strong understanding of the full NPI lifecycle and product industrialisation
CAD experience with the ability to create and interpret technical drawings
Experience developing manufacturing sequences for complex assemblies
Knowledge of PFMEA, PPAP, and continuous improvement methodologies
Experience working with MRP/ERP systems
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a manufacturing environment
Understanding of fabricated and machined component manufacturing processes
Experience with welding and non-destructive testing would be advantageous
Commercial awareness including make vs buy and cost analysis considerations desirableQualifications
Degree qualified in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline
