Are you a passionate KS3 SEN Teacher with British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or above? Do you want to inspire deaf and hearing-impaired students while helping them achieve both academically and personally?
We are working with a highly regarded specialist deaf school in Wandsworth to recruit an enthusiastic KS3 SEN Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to teach Key Stage 3 students in a supportive, specialist environment where communication, inclusion and pupil success are at the heart of everything they do.
The Role As a KS3 SEN Teacher, you will:
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for Key Stage 3 pupils with hearing impairments and additional SEND.
Use British Sign Language (BSL) to support teaching, learning and communication throughout the school day.
Adapt the curriculum to meet individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes.
Promote students' academic progress, confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with specialist Teaching Assistants, Teachers of the Deaf, Speech & Language Therapists, Audiologists and external professionals.
Monitor pupil progress, contribute to annual reviews and maintain accurate assessment records.
Foster an inclusive classroom where every student can communicate and succeed.The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Minimum BSL Level 2 qualification (essential).
Experience teaching pupils with SEND, ideally within a specialist setting.
Strong understanding of hearing impairment and inclusive teaching strategies.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs to reach their full potential.
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.Desirable
Experience working in a deaf school or hearing resource provision.
Teacher of the Deaf qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
Experience supporting students with Autism, Speech & Language needs or complex learning difficulties.
Knowledge of Total Communication approaches and assistive hearing technology.What We Offer
