How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Graduate Teaching Assistant Jobs in Clapham | September Start

September is the perfect time to gain the classroom experience that can shape your future career. We are working with a number of well-regarded schools across Clapham looking to appoint Graduate Teaching Assistants for full-time, long-term positions starting this September. Rather than recruiting for a single vacancy, we're looking to introduce bright, ambitious graduates to schools where they can develop professionally while making a genuine contribution to pupils' learning. If you're considering teacher training or another career working with children, this is an excellent opportunity to build valuable experience throughout the academic year.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced teachers, support pupils in and out of the classroom, and gain first-hand insight into school life. You'll receive guidance from skilled educators, develop your confidence working with young people and build the practical skills that universities and training providers simply can't teach. Many graduates use this experience as a stepping stone into teacher training, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, SEND, youth work and other child-focused professions.

    Key Highlights

    * Graduate Teaching Assistant – full-time, long-term opportunity

    * £95–£110 per day, depending on experience

    * September 2026 start

    * Schools across Clapham, South London

    * Full academic year until July 2027

    * Previous experience with young people welcomed but not essential

    * Outstanding opportunity for graduates considering teaching or careers working with children

    What You'll Be Doing

    * Supporting pupils during lessons to encourage confidence and engagement

    * Delivering focused one-to-one and small group interventions

    * Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities

    * Encouraging positive behaviour and strong learning habits throughout the school day

    * Building positive relationships that help pupils thrive academically and personally

    * Contributing to a calm, purposeful learning environment

Ideal Graduate Teaching Assistant for Schools in Clapham

    * Hold a degree with a strong academic record, ideally a 2:1 or above

    * Demonstrate excellent GCSEs and A Levels alongside your degree

    * Bring enthusiasm, initiative and a genuine interest in education

    * Have experience working with young people, although this is advantageous rather than essential

    * Be considering a future career in teaching or another profession working with children

    * Commit to a full-time, long-term role from September through to the end of the academic year

    Why Join Schools Across Clapham?

    * Develop practical classroom experience that will strengthen future applications for teacher training and postgraduate study

    * Learn from experienced teachers and school leaders across a range of well-regarded schools

    * Gain responsibility from the outset while receiving ongoing support and mentoring

    * Work in one of South London's most desirable and well-connected locations

    * Build the confidence, communication and classroom management skills valued throughout the education sector

    * Become part of school communities that invest in graduates with long-term career ambitions

    How to Apply

If you're a bright graduate ready to gain meaningful experience before beginning a career working with children, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today to be considered for Graduate Teaching Assistant opportunities across Clapham starting this September.

A Graduate Teaching Assistant role offers far more than a year's employment. It's an opportunity to discover where your strengths lie, develop valuable professional skills and take the first step towards a rewarding career in education or another child-focused profession
