Production Team Leader
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Type: Permanent, Full-time
We’re working with an established manufacturing business in Sheffield to recruit a Production Team Leader to join its shop-floor operation.
This is a hands-on leadership position, ideally suited to an experienced manufacturing professional who is already supervising a small team, or a strong Senior Operator looking to take the next step into leadership.
The Role
You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of a small production team while remaining actively involved in the manufacturing operation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and organising a small shop-floor production team
- Working hands-on alongside the team
- Coordinating daily workload and maintaining production standards
- Managing day-to-day matters including timekeeping and breaks
- Supporting automated manufacturing and spraying processes
- Completing routine equipment checks and basic servicing/maintenance
- Supporting health & safety and wider operational responsibilities
- Developing a strong understanding of the machinery and manufacturing processes
- Acting as an experienced and reliable point of contact for the team
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with a strong background in manufacturing or production who has either already moved into team leadership or is ready to take that next step.
You may currently be working as a Production Team Leader, Manufacturing Team Leader, Production Supervisor, Shift Leader, Cell Leader, Senior Production Operative, Senior Machine Operator or Lead Operator.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Several years of hands-on manufacturing or production experience
- Experience leading, supervising or supporting shop-floor colleagues
- A practical approach and confidence working around production machinery
- Good organisational and communication skills
- The confidence to lead an experienced, established team
- A willingness to remain hands-on rather than move into a purely managerial role
Experience with automated production lines, spraying, adhesives, bonding, laminating, panels, composites or similar manufacturing processes would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
You don’t need to be a qualified engineer or have experience with the exact equipment used. What’s more important is a strong manufacturing background, practical mindset and the ability to lead people effectively.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being on the shop floor and wants to combine their practical manufacturing experience with greater responsibility.
You’ll be joining an established manufacturing operation with an experienced workforce, with the opportunity to develop your knowledge of the business while taking ownership of a small team.
If you’re an experienced manufacturing professional ready for the next step, or an existing Team Leader looking for a new opportunity, we’d be keen to hear from you.
