Hays Education are working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary school in North London to recruit an ambitious Head of Art & Technology. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic department within a school that values creativity, innovation, and high-quality teaching and learning.

Your new role
As Head of Art & Technology, you will lead the strategic development and delivery of a broad curriculum across Art, Design Technology, and related creative subjects at KS3-KS4, with the potential to support KS5 provision.Key responsibilities include:

Leading and managing the Art & Technology department, including staff development and performance
Designing and implementing an engaging, creative and skills-based curriculum
Driving student attainment and engagement across practical and creative subjects
Overseeing resources, facilities, and health & safety within specialist areas
Promoting creativity and enrichment opportunities, including exhibitions and projects
Contributing to whole-school improvement and raising the profile of creative subjects

What you'll need to succeed

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Strong experience teaching Art, Design Technology, or a related subject at secondary level
Previous leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role
Passion for creative education and raising student aspirations
Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills
