How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Housing Officer
    Location: East London
    Salary: Competitive £26k to £28k (dependent on experience)
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:50pm
    Contract Type: Full-Time
    About the Role
    We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing Officer to join our growing team in East London.
    Working in partnership with local authorities, we provide housing management services for vulnerable individuals and families. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting people, resolving housing-related issues, and making a positive difference within the community.
    You will work closely with tenants, local authorities, contractors, and support services, reporting directly to the Housing Manager. The role is site-based and requires travel between two locations.

    Responsibilities
    * Act as the first point of contact for tenant enquiries and housing-related issues.
    * Manage tenant complaints effectively, professionally, and sensitively.
    * Investigate and address anti-social behaviour cases, liaising with relevant agencies where required.
    * Provide support and guidance to vulnerable individuals and families.
    * Work across two housing sites to ensure effective day-to-day housing management.
    * Liaise with local authorities regarding emergency placements, relocations, and safeguarding concerns.
    * Coordinate with contractors to ensure maintenance and repair works are completed promptly.
    * Maintain accurate tenant records and case notes.
    * Support the Housing Manager in ensuring properties are managed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
    * Respond proactively and appropriately to emergencies and urgent housing matters.
    Person Specification
    Essential Criteria
    * Experience working with vulnerable individuals, families, or communities.
    * Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and procedures.
    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    * Ability to manage challenging situations professionally and calmly.
    * Capable of working independently and using initiative to resolve issues.
    * Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
    * Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
    * Empathetic, resilient, and committed to supporting vulnerable people.
    Desirable Criteria
    * Previous experience within housing management, supported housing, homelessness services, social housing, or a related sector.
    * Knowledge of housing legislation and tenancy management.
    * Experience working with local authorities and external support agencies.
    * Understanding of anti-social behaviour case management.
    * Relevant qualification in Housing, Social Care, Support Work, or a related field.
    Additional Information
    A full Enhanced DBS check will be required before employment can commence.
