The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Planner to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering complex rail and infrastructure projects across London and the Southeast.
This is a senior planning position supporting projects from tender stage through to live delivery, working closely with operational, commercial and engineering teams to develop and manage robust construction programmes.
We are particularly interested in Senior Planners with strong rail and heavy civils experience, including track works, possessions and platform renewals.
The Role
As Senior Planner, you will take responsibility for the development, management and monitoring of detailed project programmes, ensuring works are effectively planned, sequenced and delivered.
Key responsibilities will include:
Develop, manage and maintain detailed programmes using Primavera P6.
Produce tender programmes and provide planning input into bid submissions.
Plan and programme track works, rail possessions, platform renewals and associated heavy civils.
Develop construction sequences around operational railway and possession constraints.
Identify critical paths, programme risks, interfaces and potential delays.
Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and site teams to monitor progress against programme.
Produce programme updates, lookaheads, progress reports and performance analysis.
Develop mitigation and recovery programmes where required.
Assess the programme impact of project changes and delays.
Provide senior planning input and challenge to project delivery teams.
Attend and contribute to internal and client programme meetings.
About You
To be considered, you will need:
Proven experience as a Senior Planner within rail, heavy civils or major infrastructure.
Strong understanding of heavy civil engineering construction and sequencing.
Excellent working knowledge of Primavera P6.
Experience producing and managing programmes from tender through to construction.
Strong understanding of critical path analysis, programme risk and mitigation.
Experience working closely with operational and site delivery teams.
Knowledge of NEC contracts would be advantageous.
Strong communication skills with the confidence to influence and challenge project teams.
