Salary: £39,196–£58,120 (M1–UPS3), paid to scale and pro rata
Contract: Part-time, long-term maternity cover
Working pattern: Four days per week, with Wednesday off
Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, term time only

Teach Now is seeking an enthusiastic History & Geography Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for a Humanities specialist who is confident teaching both subjects and wants to inspire pupils across KS3.
The timetable will consist of approximately 60% History and 40% Geography, with most lessons taught at KS3.
The role
As the History & Geography Teacher, you will:
• Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured History and Geography lessons.
• Teach a timetable split of approximately 60% History and 40% Geography.
• Deliver lessons predominantly across KS3.
• Adapt teaching to meet pupils individual needs and abilities.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, participation and achievement.
• Assess progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Create a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Humanities department.
• Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
About you
The successful History & Geography Teacher will:
• Hold UK QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Have experience teaching both History and Geography.
• Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for the Humanities.
• Plan engaging lessons that promote curiosity and critical thinking.
• Use assessment effectively to support pupil progress.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
• Be committed to safeguarding and have the right to work in the UK.
Salary will depend on experience and position on the teacher pay scale.
