Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Job Type: Permanent; Full Time Location: Barnstaple Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum
About the Manufacturing Engineer role:
To provide key manufacturing support to all areas of the paint shop, machine assembly & test, machine shop operations and fabrication as well as working closely with engineering design for the introduction of new work to ensure consistency of product, for instance, designing and implementing in-house production tooling. You will assist in the introduction of new equipment and systems to increase the efficiency of the Plant and devise methods of increasing productivity and decreasing waste. Furthermore, you will have a responsibility for maintaining and producing production documentation such as BOM's, routings and detailed work instructions. Duties include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer:
Introduction of new products working with Engineering Design
All aspects of serial production documentation such as BOMs, routings, detailed works instructions, quality plans, safe systems of working
Validating designs, proofing concepts to convert to manufacturing plans and work schedules
Design and implementation of in-house production tooling
Preparation of capital investment appropriation requests
Continuous improvement of production processes including cost saving opportunities.
Management of production consumables
Management of systems supporting KanBan replenishment systems
Technical support for purchasing function and contracts
Conduct yourself in a safe manner and support the company Enterprise Strategy to achieve our target of zero medical treated and lost time accidents, to support our company wide safety culture. Key Skills and Attributes of the Manufacturing Engineer:
Higher National Certificate in Production Engineering (or equivalent) qualified.
Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems
Understanding of general Milling, Turning and Grinding philosophies
Competent in preparing and analysing data using Microsoft Excel & Access software.
Understanding of Design for Manufacture principles
Understanding of Product Costing concepts
Good commercial acumen
The ability to work well under pressure
Highly organised with the ability to prioritise work
The ability to build effective working relationships with internal colleagues and managers
